Retirement Investment portfolio thoughts

That makes sense. I hadn't considered looking at the allocation across your entire net worth rather than just within the investment portfolio itself. It's interesting that the cash outside your tax wrappers influences how much equity exposure you're comfortable with. Thanks for explaining.

IMO you need to look at the whole picture. Your net worth and how you are generating income in retirement. We had ultra short bonds covering the gap until SPA. As OH has continued to enjoy work each year I reduce the bonds and increase the growth funds. On analysis our portfolio is high in equities however it has part invested in income focused investment trusts which will fluctuate with the markets but the underlying income stream will be much steadier. When OH finally retires we’ll have 3 x small DBs, 2 x SP and the investment trust income which will cover all our necessary expenses and some discretionary so we will probably be relatively highly equity biased according to the prima facie evidence.
