  • Most MSEs find online applications convenient, but it's your choice really.
  • The problem was that I wasn't on the electoral roll at my new house, and I've moved a few times since uni; I can't get a free trial to Experian or Equifax since I've used them before, so is it worth me paying the £6.99 to see my reports before I apply, or should I just make the application and see what happens?
  • Feeling very happy made the effort. Good luck with yours trust me its worth it.

Quick question - I have a Virgin Money card and they are offering 0% transfer for about 18 months, I'm about to apply for a mortgage - would transferring debt adversly impact that application - I don't think it will as the overall debt will be the same, and actually the monthly payment may actaully be lower. My partner is worried though if we do this we may not get the mortgage - she's heard something that mortgage companies don't like this sort of thing. As an aside the new mortgage maybe with clydesdale who are virgin money as well I believe!
  • I presently have a HSBC Classic credit for which the interest rate has increased to  29.9%APR but would like to apply for the HSBC Purchase plus credit card with  0% interest for 22 months on balance transfers and  0% interest on purchases for 22 months but I look at the eligibility is says the Purchase plus with these terms is only eligible for new customers and I think I would be classed as an existing customer. Does anyone know if there is any way of getting the Purchase plus card and having the with the preferential terms?

By being a new customer. Unfortunately, you're not.
  • It's been very dry on all my eligibility checkers for months (years?!), but just got 31mths 0% with Halifax (2.9% fee). I'd hoped it would be Halifax, as I had a card with 12k limit that I'd paid off and you can move the limit from old card to the new one with them to maximise the BT offer!

Circumstances will vary of course, but might give hope to those struggling to find new cards to transfer from. These new 2.5% min payments are a killer though...
  • I have 4 cards that I use, all at 0%, and keep transferring between them when the promotional period is about to end

this has been working well, but my virgin money promotional  period is about to run out, and they are not offering me any more 0% deals, I’ve managed to transfer half of the balance on to another card, do you think this will result in Virgin offering me another 0% offer soon?

Varies entirely on what they want to offer and if you are their target user. I have a Barclaycard one that suddenly wasn't offering a BT unlike every month for last couple of years, was making preparations to use another card, then it came back again - it's that sort of thing. That said, if Virgin do offer you one, what good is that if you have a balance on there already?
  • I have a balance I am looking to transfer. I did a money transfer on my Tesco card for which the 0% runs out in July. I have a Santander Card and a Jaja card.

They're not new cards so will I be eligible for any interest free offers? My credit score is poor at the moment as I have a lot borrowed, so dont think Id be successful applying for a new card.

Quick look at Jaja though and it doenst look like they do balance transfers? Santander have some great offers on their new cards, but waht about existing cards? I have a decent credit limit on both Jaja and Santander cards, but imagine any new card would come with a small initial balance
