  • I have a question for any experts out there...

If my wife has credit card debt that we'd like to transfer onto a 0% deal, will most credit cards allow a balance transfer from cards in her name onto a new 0% card in my name?

Is that £100 on each?? TSB and Barclays?
No joy with the other BT cards that are on the website???

TSB Amex and Barclays are set at a £100 fixed monthly payment.
I now use the Hilton Card as my main 'debit card' and then transfer the funds from the debit card across plus a little bit more.
The rest are on minimum payments.
'soft credit search' is not recommending much, which I reckon maybe to do with my availability of credit. Nothing else 'wrong' or 'dodgy' is showing on my paper report. CallCredit claims im 809 out of 999 (which we know means f all).

I have just taken out a 1.9% funds transfer with barclays to pay off the metro bank card to cancel and close it, also using the same funds to pay off the smile card. This was a £5k limit till I asked them to reduce it with a mind to closing it.

Reason for the cards in answer to grumbler:
Hilton - free room upgrades when work puts me up in hotels.
TSB Amex - avois for europe
    Smile - Low APR
Barclays - Low APR plus its my oystercard
Metro - Free transactions and atm withdrawals abroad. Cash advances charged at same apr as purchases.
  • I've just been accepted for a 0% balance transfer Barclaycard thanks to MSE's help and advice! Thanks!!! :D

  • I currently have two credit card accounts with MBNA (a Virgin credit card and a LFC Credit Card) with balances of around £800 on each. Five years ago, my now ex husband left me and as a result struggled financially. I missed a couple of payments on my credit card and I "froze" the accounts so I couldn't put any further lending on them and since, I have continued to pay the minimum payment on both. Financially am now in a stronger position ( had a mortgage in my own name for nearly 3 years, just updated with Santander) Does anyone know what the best way of doing a balance transfer would be or what the best card would be to balance transfer to? I have spoken to MBNA and as both my cards are with them, they are unwilling to let me do a balance transfer to another of their cards or to offer me a decent deal (lower interest rate)? Any help would be greatly appreciated with this
  • Am new user to this site, I am from Dhaka, Bangladesh. I want transfer some money from London to my local account. Please give me advice.
  • I was just wondering, does anyone out there know of a 0% credit card which would allow me to transfer the money to a bank account? I am wondering about doing a transfer as I currently pay 5% on a loan, I could save some money a long as the transfer fee is less.

    Many thanks.

you need a 'super balance transfer card' - there are a few and the fee is generally around 4% although there are a couple of deals out there at the moment:

    HI guys,

Please could someone offer advice on my current situation-

I currently have an arranged overdraft of £10,000 with Natwest that I am looking to do a super balance transfer with. I am paying around £100 in interest and charges with this at present. I am quite a high earner (around £100,000-150,000 gross per year) and am self employed. I have no other debt, apart from a mortgage which is not in arrears and I am managing fine.

I currently have a MBNA credit card (prev virgin but recently was changed over) with nothing on it. I had initially used this for a money transfer previously and paid it off last year to avoid the interest bearing charges at the end of the promotion. They are now offering a promotional money transfer till April 2015 with a 4% fee.

I also have a barclay card that I have never used or got around to cancelling. I was previously with egg and then transferred to barclay card when they closed. I am not even sure of the credit limit on this.

Finally I have a Natwest credit card, with £6000 limit, currently with no balance on it. There is no promotional offer with this, or any ability to move a balance over at a low rate, as far as I am aware. I generally use this card quite regularly and try and pay off the balance in full each month.

I think my main 2 options would be:

    1) open a new credit card ( I was looking at the Fluid one by MBNA with 28month interest free period) that has the money transfer option and move the 10K overdraft over to it

    OR

    2) move the balance over to my current MBNA credit card

I wondered if anyone knew if I would be eligible and likely accepted if I did apply for another MBNA card (fluid one) as I already have one?

Also does anyone else have any other suggestions, that I have not thought of, or know of any other cards I could look at?

Your help would be much appreciated :)
