It mentions in the best balance transfers section of this site "This card is provided by MBNA, which tend to be difficult to get accepted for" with regards to BT, 0% for 9 months, 1.9% fee. Any ideas on what the best cards that are not difficult to get accepted for are?
(HSBC has a similar deal for current account holders, but customer service is not so good, IME)
If you're not eligible for the above, the Nationwide card is a straight forward, no-strings deal which offers 0% for 13 months to new customers. A 3% BT fee applies

Do you bank with NatWest or the Royal Bank of Scotland? A 0% for 15 months BT card is available to existing bank account customers at the mo.

I bank with Halifax (at the moment) i dont see a point in applying for the Virgin card again, so i think i will try for the Nationwide and if not accepted maybe go for the Egg card 0% until next September, if i were again to be declined i will just have to stick with the Barclaycard for the moment, saying that it does not really have to be 0% as i just want the two seperate amounts in 1, but searching around i cant find anythink similar to Barclays 6.5%.
I will be applying next Monday
Thanks for the help Moogles i will post how i get on and any more advice or suggestions in the mean time are much appreciated.0 -

Can anyone help me? I have a good credit rating and am up to date with all my payments but when I try to get a o% deal or transfer I cannot as I have had to retire on health grounds so only get a pension/benefits. Do you think this is the problem? How can I get a better deal0

To help you further, we need to know which credit cards you've applied for unsuccessfully. Also which cards you have at the mo or have held recently.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
I have a question...
I decided to take the plunge and take out a new card to transfer my balance ive never done this before so i wasn;t really sure how to do it, but i looked at the cards page and saw that i thought the best option for me would be the Barclaycard platinum with a low apr for 3 years as i know i cant pay it off in one year and i dont earn enough to have the low apr for life card... So i followed the link and filled out the application form in which it says ' do you intend on balance transferring to this card yes no' (or something to that effect) so i ticked yes, it asks for a figure of how much so i put £4200 which is the amount, well it accepted me straight away and i got an email today to confirm that but it says the available balance will be £2520.00 why would they do that when i have said how much i need to transfer....?
Any suggestion what I do?
thanks

If the worst happens, Martin's advice is to transfer what you can. Don't leave an offer unused out of exasperation. It's on your credit files, so you may as well use it (See Martin's *Credit Card Limit: didn't get what you wanted?* article.) You'll still save money

P.S. Note for future reference: with most providers you either complete the BT request section during the application process or wait until the card arrives and request your BT(s) when you call to activate. (There's usually a dedicated, Freefone number for this)
IMO, it's safer to wait until receipt of the card and credit limit before requesting BTs. That way you keep your options open, avoid unwanted partial transfers and retain some control over what happens when. BTs are not easy to reverse and, in attempting this, you could incur two BT fees.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
I have just received my new Virgin credit card and there is an offer -0.0% interest until December 2010 on all money transfers to a current account completed before 28 September 2009. It is suggesting this can be used to pay off overdrafts, other personal loans etc. Is this really as good as I think it sounds?0

Up to 95% of your credit limit, 4% fee, minimum repayments 1% of balance or £25. Miss a payment you lose the 0% period and get stung for interest and fees. Don't clear it by the end of the 0% period and they'll hike up the interest."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0
