What are the best BT cards at the moment, Moggles? I took your advice on the Halifax 13 month offer but I still have £2900 I need to transfer.
Is it the Virgin and Natwest offerings still?
Also is Virgin anything to with MBNA or RBS because I had trouble with those guys in the past.
Thanks in advance.0 -

Yes, I have the Virgin card too. It's underwritten by MBNA.

The current NatWest deal is open to existing NatWest customers only.
If you're eligible, fine.
Note: NatWest belongs to the RBS stable, so you may wish to avoid.
Virgin is a market-leading card but, as above, it's underwritten by MBNA.
To maximise the 0% period, you'd get until 1 August 2010 from Egg. A 3% BT fee applies.

Alternatively, have you considered the Post Office card? 12 months at 0% is currently available on BTs made in the first 3 months from account opening. There's a 2.98% BT fee.
Also, 5 months at 0% on new BTs requested in the month of your 1st and 2nd anniversary

Doh! I didn't mean Natwest, I meant Nationwide... Are they still doing a 13 month 0% BT scheme?0

It's ok, I just checked (which I should have done in the first place) and their classic card offers the 13 months facility.
However, I always get the impression that Nationwide are VERY stringent and their limits offered very low... Don't know why!? Perhaps because they are a building society more than a bank. However, I'm sure I read they are offering 125% mortgages as of this week!?0 -

Bad luck. You may be able to negotiate an increase when you call to activate your Post Office card, but this is unlikely to result in more than an extra £500 or so. If you appeal against the decision, it will only result in further delay and meanwhile you'll be charged at your standard rate on your Virgin card. It's probably quicker to apply for another card, TBH, and move the rest there.
You've nothing to lose, certainly.
If your balance is zero at the mo, you'd be in a strong position to negotiate a rate reduction. If not, I'd ask to be put through to their loyalty dept. Obviously, for this to work, you have to be prepared to close the account, if you don't get the rate you hoped for.
Very best

Hurrah - I've not done the best but have made the best of a bad job.! I have transferred the maximum I can to my new Post Office card at 0% for 12 mths.
Thanks for your advice re negotiating with the Halifax . I phoned their retaining line ( found the 0800 number for this on the "say no to 0845 numbers" website ). After a sustained haggle and sounding like I was going to use another close my a/c I was finally offered 0% for 6months and also a reduced rate after this finished of 9.94% . :beer:librarylottie0 -
