  • as poster said, don’t by expensive electronics from Amazon. I personally have had issues.

CEX is definitely the was to go. The customer service really is excellent.

And 8gb is plenty for the OP usage as they said

“The usage will be for but light family use, basic internet,

using ms word and excel (which has to be purchased correct?)

It will not be used for gaming, or any heavy graphic uses,”.

you do not need 16gb for that.

Sure if you are doing a multi-gigabit billboard design and arent using Apple then you will need a dedicated graphics card but not for day to day use on a modern Windows machine. Apple are an obvious carve out as none of their current machines support video cards but their on chip GPUs in the M Pro/Max/Ultra are more than capable.

I've recently bought a GMKtec Mini PC Nucbox G10. The model I picked has 16Gb Ram and a 1Tb SSD.

Happy with it up to now. Minor gripes would be ... slightly slow-ish WiFi, and too few USB ports. I'll probably be looking for a powered USB hub soon. I bought it from Amazon, there was a £70 amazon discount voucher at the time.... do keep a look out for these vouchers, I've noticed several recently on Mini PCs sold on Amazon.
