Hi there
I am hoping someone can help with a little problem I am having.
I have a few links to websites like MSE on my desktop.
If I open one site up and then open another site, the second one opens in the same window as the first one, it overwites it.
How can I get them all to open in their own little window please.
I am using IE6 & XP
thanks

Not really. I have a site open, say ebay. I then click on my MSE shortcut on the desktop . The MSE site open in the ebay window wiping it out. If I then do Ctrl & N all I would end up with is 2 MSE sites.
I want ebay to stay open and MSE to open in another window.xxxdxxx

Im not sure about ie6 but in firefox if you right click on the link you can select to open the link in a new window, is that what you were after, in firefox the ctrl + n trick does work it opens 2 windows for you soif you have ebay already open you press ctrl + n and a new window would open, but as i say im using firefox so im not sure if ie6 would be similarNo Links in Signature by site rules - MSE Forum Team 20

Taken from another forum from googling:
"Open IE and go to Tools\Internet Options and the Advanced tab. Scroll down to the "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" line under the Browsing section. Uncheck that box, that will allow your desktop URL shortcuts to open a new IE window. By default that box is checked."
See http://www.winxptutor.com/iereuse.htm for some more info.
P.S. Have you thought about trying firefox or opera etc in order to have tabbed browsing (I agree with you about the stupid layout of IE7 - it can be changed but it involves a bit of hacking about). Tabbed browsing is certainly easier IMO0 -
The other option for the few shortcuts would be to create new ones
if you want to open yahoo.com
right click the desktop, new and shortcut.
enter
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" www.yahoo.com
in the path/location
it will run internet explorer and open yahoo.com in the new window.0 -

I am using XP and IE6, it's exactly the same.
Good luck0 -
The ctrl+n just opens a new window with the same page you are currently on, the OP would then need to minimise them and double click her desktop shortcuts, the chance of opening in the new windows is more hit and miss depending on which window you minimise last.0

get Firefox and use the middle mouse button (scroll wheel) to click on links and they open in a new tab. middle mouse button on the tab to close again.
IE is too prone to hijacks and spyware IMHO0
