VENT: Reviews from stupid people
What is it with people being idiots?
I was looking for an item on Amazon yesterday - a toilet seat, since the powers that be decided to take all the hardware stores from our area & replace them with bakeries & vape shops.
I was scrolling through the images & one review was a 1 star with the lid being smashed to bits. I'd seen a few of these reviews with smashed lids so wondered if it was a design fault.
When I read the guys review - he said that once a month him & his wife do a 'deep clean' & he's always stood on the toilet seat to get to the cobwebs and "it's always been ok before", but this time with this new seat his foot went through it …… so he gave it a 1 star.
I'm thinking how much of an idiot are you? It's a flipping toilet SEAT, to put your back end on, not your foot through. If you want to reach your ceiling then they make something for that too … it's called a flipping STOOL!!
So a total inaccurate review because of someone's stupidity.
I saw another one a few days ago, I forget what the item was but this woman said …. "I haven't used it yet but I'm sure it'll be ok" and gave it 5 stars. Well here's a crazy idea …. just don't review the damn thing until you've used it.
And on eBay (and Amazon too really) where they give poor reviews because an item arrived damaged. It got sorted out in the end - they got a replacement or refund, yet they give poor feedback. Well newsflash …. there's a saying & the P.G. version is poop happens!! They've sorted it out so what more do you want them to do?
Honestly! People! :-|

I can't fathom being on the other end receiving these reviews. Esp as this affects peoples' livelihoods. That guy could have put on extra weight for all we know, we can't be sure the product isn't well made to withstand a fool.
With that said, paid reviews are the worst.

All reviews should be read with a very large pinch of salt to hand…

Nearly as bad as someone commenting that, the hotel in Seville was hot in Jul or the delivery company was poor so they give the product 1*

I dont think any of the plastic seats have lids that you can sit on these days. If people need to use the seat as a stool the wooden ones are the only ones to go for. I'm using the wickes soft close plastic ones ( I have 3 wc) liked the first one so bought 2 more. 3 years in no broken seats or lids, yet thats what most of the few negative comments were about.
I just dont think people have the common sense to assess whether something is sturdy enough, and then are shocked when it breaks. My OH thought an office chair was safe to stand on - luckily he only sprained his ankle, the chair needed replacing.
Some of the reviews are funny. A stanley knife for one. It comes in cardboard sheet which at first glance looks to have the knife fitted around it. There's a small section (with scissor sign and dotted line) you tear it and the card lifts off. Someone wrote a lengthy review on how to dismantle the knife to remove the packaging.

A stool is appropriate for a toilet.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".6 -
Oh yeah, getting the review system totally wrong. That's another that winds me up.
Negative! 1 Star! Because it took longer than they wanted for it to arrive … even though the sender can prove they sent it on time & did all they could so it's out of their hands & everyone is 100% at the mercy of the courier system.
Unfortunately I've only seen 'report' on Amazon but no why. You should be able to fill out a little entry as to why it gets reported & then removed. That woman who hadn't even tried the product for example. You shouldn't be allowed to leave those kinds of reviews.

Ooo, can we all join this rant? :-) "Please review your latest purchase from XX which we fulfilled 7/12/17/22/27/32 days ago".
Actual numbers above but I think they've given up now..

Yeah that's another one that annoys me. I'll review it if I want to and if you start badgering me then that's a sure fire way for me to not do it & that doesn't just apply to reviews.
For work I deal with a lot of delivery drivers. The majority of them are pleasant enough, they know the score, but occasionally you'll get drivers come in giving it the "can you hurry up I need to be at X by Y".
I don't know what places they go to where people then jump & go oh sorry mate I'll bust a gut now to cater to your every need but that simply doesn't work 1) with me or 2) where I work. You'll get dealt with as quick as possible but when you start badgering me/us then that's really not going to do you any favours whatsoever. It'll have the opposite effect.
I don't take kindly to being badgered :)

I saw a review on Tesco a few years ago for some weedkiller spray. The reviewer complained that the following day after spraying the weeds they were still there. Apparently they expected them to go up in a puff of smoke overnight?
