This won't change. AIUI the incoming PM has pledged to keep the Triple Lock.
I can't see how much more can develop in this thread without becoming political.

Are you sure? My new pension had my entitlement to SERPS lumped in the whole thing goes up under the triple lock.
Pension credit isn't for poorer pensioners, it's for desperate pensioners and yet many don't claim it and it has the problem of making those on it much better off than those who just miss out.

Yes we're sure.

Are you receiving more than the full New State Pension?
If you reached state pension age after 2016, you don't have any SERPS. You'll have the regular New State Pension up to a maximum of £241.30. If your pension calculation in 2016 resulted in a sum larger than the full NSP, you'll also have some protected payment on top. The NSP is triple-locked, the protected payment only increases by CPI.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. The problem is how the means test could be applied when the current policy is to move away from that.

Why have you deleted the thread content and changed the title?

I don't understand this thread? Can someone explain?

Clearly doesn't understand the purpose of a discussion board.
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.1 -
Yes utterly confused myself

The OP started a thread saying they had worked out a way to keep the triple lock sustainable for longer, by excluding the highest levels of state pension (e.g. people who get more than £13k or so per year) from the triple lock, and not increasing those high pensions as much. Other comments then pointed out that that's how the system works already.
In an unusual twist, the OP has now deleted their post and change the title.
