Should a Beko Fridge Freezer Reach Minus 18 on Setting 3?

I have a new Beko fridge freezer, non frost free, in use for 10 days that I am having trouble getting the temperature right.

At setting 3 (of 1-5) the fridge is at 4c but the freezer is only minus 10c even though the cooling cycle is running for 90 minutes or more even when it hasn't been opened. At setting 4, the freezer goes to minus 18 but the fridge is iced up because the cooling cycle lasts 3 hours.

I am giving it 24 hours to adjust before checking things. Its about half full, with large tubs of water in the fridge and tubs of ice in the freezer (the ice came from a chest freezer). I am opening the fridge a little as possible, maybe 6 times a day and opening the freezer once a day.

Where are you measuring your temperatures?

When you say "the fridge is iced up" do you mean there's visible frost on the cold plate, or do you mean your refrigerated produce is freezing?

(FWIW I chose a separate fridge and freezer so I could avoid having one dependent on the other like this.)

I have the fridge thermometer in a glass of water at the back of the middle shelf. The freezer thermometer is in the middle drawer laying on an ice pack and under a bag of oven chips. The back panel was completely frozen over and the things close to it were starting to freeze.

Is it normal for a new machine to have such long cooling cycle run times?

The 4 degrees sounds about the right temperature. However minus 10 for the freezer is not cold enough.

As said having one control for both is not ideal.

Try setting it at 3.5 .

@csnann , Did you leave the fridge freezer unused and stationary for a minimum of twenty four hours before you plugged it in? Especially if it arrived during the heatwave.

The delivery men said to leave it for 4 hours before switching it on, so that is what I did. I realised it would be working harder in the hot weather so I didn't put anything in the freezer until the weekend, although I used the fridge as normal. I only started checking the temperatures on Sunday.

It sounds faulty, assuming the freezer is at least 3 star rated.

its a standard 4 star model. If setting it to 3.5 doesn't sort it, I will contact the retailer about it.

My fridge thermometer sits on a shelf, there is no need to put it in water. I order if this is causing an inaccurate reading.

Empty freezers need to work harder to maintain temperature than full ones, try adding a few loaves of bread to assist it.
