Ebay Offer Being Withdrawn

Exactly, if it was an offer from a seller op would be worried about losing their money, not about a spurious SNAD claim.. even if they confused the words buyer and seller, sellers don't open SNAD claims!

Yes, I'm the seller and it hasn't sold. Apologies for posting a confusing account.
I was pondering what would have happened had I clicked on Respond to offer on the first email. This message told me I had 23 hours to decide. Would I have been allowed to accept the offer even though it had been subsequently been retracted?
Probably it would not let me accept the offer after the retraction message had been sent. But if it had let me accept the offer and I then posted it, the buyer would not be at all pleased after retracting their offer. In that situation the risk of them trying to get their money back by claiming SNAD would have been a greater than normal risk for me.

The system would probably have just ignored you and not allowed the acceptance to go through as there was no 'live' acceptance possible.

As soolin said it is likely that if you had followed the link (or logged in to your selling homepage) the offer would have not been there. It's also worth noting that with simple delivery items buyers can cancel up until you print the ebay supplied label, for those listings still on custom postage the buyer can request a cancellation and the seller has the option to reject if already despatched.
