I hate Heathrow Terminal 3
It's full of rip off shipping and crap, overpriced restaurants. No observation area unless you pay for lounge access.
Is there anything redeeming it? Any hidden stuff to do?

Unfortunately paywalled

Apparently the scanners in security have been updated so no liquids out of bags required.

How much 'stuff' do you want to do whilst waiting for boarding announcements?

Just like all airports everywhere.
If you have a lot of time, go to the chapel and simply sit and be still and perhaps contemplate the universe. Be shocked at the pictures of scantily clad ladies that decorate the passage leading to the chapel.
Whenever I have to fly, I bring a good book and sandwiches and try to ignore the horrible environment until it is time to board.1 -
The Cathay Pacific First lounge is probably the best in Heathrow, I like the Virgin Clubhouse too, and it's the only one with an outdoor terrace and drive through check in. There are also multiple One World carrier lounges all very close together and given the reciprocal agreement you can use all of them if you have status or are flying business+
Outside of lounges, it's got one of the most diverse range of airlines and destinations making it a good hub for those needing/wanting connecting flights without changing terminals.
Ultimately it is the oldest/unmodernised of the terminals but I wouldnt say the shops or restaurants are any better or worse than other airports

Amex Centurion Lounge is OK too.

T2 seems to be the least bad.

As long as you are going somewhere the Star Alliance are flying its ok, but that makes it very limited for direct flights
Obviously depends if your priority is the 2 hours in the airport or the 2 weeks at your destination

No Boots and no Wetherspoons! It's a disgrace!

As much as I hate the owner, spoons is decent for the money. They have a Pret but it's a crap one. The Nero is absolutely dire, even by Nero standards.
Very overcrowded too.

I flew from Terminal 3 for the first time this May.
Often visit the Wetherspoons in Terminal 5 when flying from there.
Boots usually sell bottled water for a reasonable price.
Water was very expensive from the other retailers in T3.
