I am always greatly amused that my quietest work days are swiftly followed by my busiest! Finishing at 15:30 as I didn't even get a chance for lunch today because of a high priority request and countless meetings.
£17 withdrawn from Prolific, £1 to SIPP (£1.25 after initial tax relief).
DD1 survived her presentation, feeling a bit scunnered yesterday evening, but that was to be expected.*Edit: £2 from the dreaded Y Live.

DD1 didn't get House Captain. I feel for her but tried to point out that the next application would be easier, whatever it was, and that we were so proud of the new skills she demonstrated. Not much more you can say, eh?

Give her a hug from an MSE Auntie - yes it is the skills that will be important going forward but I'm sure pouting about it is the best choice atm!
4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)Original End Date - Sept 2041 *** New projection - Aug 2040 (reduced by 1 years & 1 month)4 -
When my boss went off last week he joked that I'd have a quiet week. The opposite has been true and I am exhausted! We have had to draw together briefings on three different topics for audiences up to senior minister level, it has been non stop. At least I got a new laptop which is a great improvement on the 8-year-old one I had before 😅 Looking forward to some time off - considering a half day tomorrow and some time off next week.
DD1 seems to be coming through her disappointment in a healthy manner but there is a family matter brewing in the background that has got Mrs E down. Nothing new, nobody is ill, but it is weighing heavily on her and I am trying to be gently supportive. Not one I want to discuss online, but it has everyone a bit "meh". Staying focused on the things we can control 😇
£9.35 withdrawn from Prolific and £1.36 paid into my SIPP (£1.70 after initial tax relief). I am about £100 away from the Trading Allowance for this tax year, and three weeks away from going back to university. That seems to be fortuitous, think I'll try and get to £1,000 from surveys and then call it quits until next April, see how I cope with the work + study combination.
Hope you are all well and as happy as can be expected for a Thursday.

And apparently I am in a "unique" role at work, which means more uncertainty as these roles haven't been assessed for the new pay scale yet. More disruption and worry!

It also means you are harder to replace :)

I'm with you on the time to study - my bee studies seem to have taken over my winters (in bee terms this is September to March inclusive) - I begin again on 1st September, studying for the last exam, that I won't take until maybe March, maybe November 27 (depending on whether I pass the one I missed last year when Mr Sl was ill), then helping others with their studies for one I have passed, then studying for the exam I didn't take in March 25. Oh, and being the Administrator for two other charities, that I am neglecting, setting up a queen rearing program and beginning the studies for two of the practicals - There are three practicals before I get to be a Master and I might never get there!

OS Grocery Challenge in 2026 I am sticking with a £3000 annual budget for 2026 - currently £1,959.37 to the end of August. This is too high if there is to be anything lovely for Xmas.

A steady sort of month (which is just what we're looking for). NW up by c. £9,000. This was mostly investment growth but I was also pleased to see improvements in both our "Strict" NW (i.e. cash and more portable investments, as opposed to DB pensions etc.) and our zero-based budget cash in hand position (i.e. the line on Zerosum trended up for the first time in five months). Particularly pleased with this as spending less is the harder part of budgeting!
Goodbye August, you were expensive and irritating 😜
