Transferring S&S ISA from HL to Barclays
When trying to initiate a transfer of a S&S ISA from HL, do you just quote your HL customer number? I can't see that I have any other account number with HL, but Barclays say they cannot do the transfer as the number is not the correct format.
I can't say I've been impressed with Barclays so far as it took long two phone calls to actually open the S&S ISA as there was a problem with my name - even though I've been banking with Barclays since 1987 and used to work for them! I'm rapidly going off the idea of transferring to them.

There is no correct format for a stocks and shares ISA.
I wonder if Barclays think it's a cash ISA that you're trying to transfer and are expecting a sort code and account number?

Are the problems you’re having with Barclays a sign of things to come? Are you sure you want to transfer your ISA to them? There are cheaper options.

The feedback about Barclays retail investment side is consistently poor.

Barclays is probably one of worst platform on market.
Why going to them? Seen carrot offer? Wait till you see stick.0 -
I'm not sure about a S&S ISA but I recently transferred a cash ISA by paper as the online transfer from HL didn't appear to work with the customer number. No one advised this I just got fed up with HL telling me it should work and after two failed online transfer attempts the paper one worked ok, albeit it took a couple of weeks.

I was a longstanding customer of HL and had a client number that was "too short" when I transferred to ii last year. I told ii to add some leading zeros until it was the "right" length and it worked. How they couldn't work that out by themselves I don't know, perhaps people are not paid to think anymore. They would rather tell me I was wrong, when I wasn't.
That may have some relevance to you, if you have an old 6 digit HL client number.

Thanks all; my HL number is 7 figures. I did suggest adding leading zeros to Barclays but they seemed doubtful.
As Barclays have removed their platform fees and they don't charge for fund trades, I decided I would move my HL S&S ISA and GIA (yes my ISAs and pensions are maxed out) to Barclays. I bank with Barclays so thought it would save me paying HL fees and simplify matters.
I have got a S&S ISA with Scottish Widows (i-Web) as well. I might move the HL one there instead.

i xferred from HL to barclays to take advantage of the cashback offer
the cashback of £2500 was paid quicker than the expected date
i since xferred half out to freetrade to take advantage of another cashback offer and left half with barclays
interface and customer service at barclays seemed to me that they were some way behind the competition
only plus point (other than the cashback) since leaving half of investments with them, is they dispensed with the holding fees.....interest on cash held remains at a lot less than available elsewhere also
