Another thought is to check out the university itself for accomadation. Most uni's let out their self contained flats in Halls during the summer break. I've done one or two night stays that way in the past.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Thanks for all the replies unfortunately most are fully booked for the dates we wanted and there are so many bad reviews of the Formule1 hotel on Trip Advisor I wouldnt want to risk staying there
I often travel to Liverpool and stay at Formule 1. Basic but clean, and good value and in excellent location ... cheap meals at next door hotel restaurant can be prebooked...
