So we have had one of these units for just over 5 years.

It just failed (no power up) so if anyone would like to see the inside of one of them here you go whilst hubby strips it down and replaces the PCB and Motherboard.

The PCB and Motherboard are all click connectors so the hope is it's an easy fix(famous last words)

And yes hubby says he checked the plug and fuse first 😅 that's not to say he didn't have most it apart by then anyway!!

Hubby, taking things apart for no reason since the age of 8.

Taking stuff apart is not the problem (I've spent a lifetime doing just that). It is putting it back together without having bits left over and having the thing work again.

If hubby can do the second half, then you have a keeper.

Don't throw the old boards away that's the sweet spot age for boards to be repaired.

Might be able to spot the issue with well lit close up photos of the boards. Your nose is often good to track down the issues too.

    No thunder when it failed?

    I trust it's safely isolated

Yeah hubby is thinking of a power surge but no obviously dark or burn marks on either the PCB or motherboard.

Yeah we are keeping everything but that's interesting what you say about boards expiring around that age, the conspiracy theorist in me suggests we get five year warranties and boards that are designed to last 6 years lol

We have kept the old boards so might look at one of those send away companies or someone local to send the boards to. As despite the pictures they were very easy to replace.

That's a good point about being isolated, although not a requirement for these units as they come with a 3 pin 13amp plug maybe that is something to consider.
