How is my PC not good enough to handle YouTube shorts?

Correct, that's exactly when I built it.
"Upgrade your PC" …… why? To play YouTube shorts? Or do you have another reason?

Better still, it stops TY ads at same time

Not keen on the browser but I may look at it just for that alone.
FWIW I don't get ads with YT on any device & haven't done for some time now.
I have an extension to block them within FireFox.
On the Nvidia Shield I use an app which not only blocks them but also skips when a YouTuber is waffling about some paid promotion thing they're doing.
And on my Android phone I use another app which bypasses ads if you're happy with the few seconds it takes to load a video. The only one with the Android phone is if I search for info & there's a YT video to see how to do something for example, it opens within YT itself & not the ad blocking app. THEN I get hit with ads. Maybe there's a way to have it auto-open links through the other app, I don't know.

You were complaining it couldn't play Youtube or FB videos so their suggestion (and mine earlier) was so that you could. Upgrading a PC doesn't mean replacing the entire thing, you can just replace the video card.
Secondhand options would be :-
NVIDIA GT 1030 2GB GDDR5 (not the GDDR4 version) at circa £40 (used) VP9 capable and 4K @ 60Hz
AMD Radeon RX 550 4GB at circa £50 (used)VP9 capable and 4K @ 60Hz
Or a brand new Intel Arc A310 4GB at circa £120+ (new) VP9 & AV1 capable and and 8K @ 60Hz
Note that all of the above are powered from the slot itself, so no extra cables from the PSU needed.

The argument about the graphics card not coping may hold true for HD/4k content.
If you drop the resolution on YouTube down to anything below 720p, does it play happily then? You can change this with the cog bottom right of any video.

Ah I'm with you now.
That Nvidia one you mention, it sounds familiar. Does it allow GPU encoding/transcoding (whatever the coding term is) with Handbrake?
Some years ago when I was running .mkv files through Handbrake to shrink them someone on another forum suggested I bought a cheap 2nd hand GPU as it could take the load off the CPU if I remember right. I remember it being 2GB vs my 1GB.
Whatever model it was they recommended, I found one & bought it but when it arrived the back plate was bent to hell so I sent it back & just stayed with the one that's always been in there.
This was all because Handbrake was taking like 8 hours to run 1 blu ray (that'd been ripped by makemkv)
