Paid for wrong car on RingGo

Hi all,

I have used the template before but it was a long time ago so need a refresher and extra support.

I bought a new car recently, and still have my old car on RingGo. I parked at the train station for work and in a rush I accidentally clicked my old registration instead of my new one. I paid for this and have a receipt to show this and I didn't overstay my time. Therefore in my eyes, there is no loss to Apcoa as a business.

I need confirmation of my next steps to ensure I don't have to pay for this. My thinking is as below:

  • PCN received on 22nd so need to wait 26 days and then appeal using the
template from the newbie thread with relevant information (receipts,
proof of payment, ringo account etc).
  • Wait for rejection and appeal to POPLA citing no keeper notice if I haven't received.
  • Ignore if they send £20 'offer' - can this not be appealed too?

I was planning on using the template written on 26th August on this thread

If anything needs amending in this, please let me know.

If it's APCOA I would do nothing and just ignore them personally.

"PCN received on 22nd so need to wait 26 days"

Nope. That delay is only a tactic for windscreen PCNs & I assume this was postal.m?

"Wait for rejection and appeal to POPLA citing no keeper notice if I haven't received."

Only if it's a windscreen PCN.

"Ignore if they send £20 'offer' - can this not be appealed too?"

No it can't and you'd lose at POPLA so there's no point.

You can just safely ignore the whole thing.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Okay thanks for clarifying my points, appreciate it.

Why can I ignore it? Does it not just get escalated? I'm confused because in your footer it says "Don't pay, but don't ignore it", is this not a private PCN?

You can ignore it because APCOA don't sue anyone. Or appeal and pay £20 to end it.

I'm seeing conflicting information online around whether APCOA take people to court or not. I also would appreciate less flack from my partner who gets more worried about these things than me.

What is the best way to approach the appeal to get the £20 to end it?

"I'm seeing conflicting information online around whether APCOA take people to court or not."

    HAHAHA!

I've posted here for 20 years and APCOA have never, ever, ever sued anyone.

Show me who says otherwise. They're wrong.

And I told you just to appeal and they'll offer £20. No template is needed and you don't need to overthink it, just quote the Joint Code clause on 'keying errors' and they have to offer to settle at £20.

Just an update for anyone that stumbles on this with a similar problem.

I used the template I mentioned above and added my relevant details along with a copy of the receipt showing payment for parking on the day. APCOA replied and confirmed cancellation of the ticket. So if you're unsure about ignoring it due to escalations, appeals can work.
