Ringgo paid for wrong car

Hello,

Newbie here and am looking for confirmation of my understanding of the appeals process. I parked in a Euro car park and I accidentally paid for the wrong car (my wife's car instead of my own!). I have the receipt to support this. The offence was caught via ANPR and I got the fine through the post a week ago.

I have read through the newbie thread and there's a templated response which contests who the driver is and to explain the signage. Do I even amend that template to state the actual issue as I described it or just post as is? It's really not clear to me and any advice here is kindly appreciated.

Just for clarity, i'm speaking about the following template:

Re PCN number:

I dispute your 'parking charge', as the keeper of the vehicle. I deny any liability or contractual agreement and I will be making a complaint about your predatory conduct to your client landowner.

There will be no admissions as to who was driving and no assumptions can be drawn. Since your PCN is a vague template, I require an explanation of the allegation and your evidence. You must include a close up actual photograph of the sign you contend was at the location on the material date as well as your images of the vehicle.

If the allegation concerns a PDT machine, the data supplied in response to this appeal must include the record of payments made - showing partial VRNs - and an explanation of the reason for the PCN, because your Notice does not explain it.

If the allegation involves an alleged overstay of minutes, your evidence must include the actual grace period agreed by the landowner.

Thank you

    Definitely not an offence

    Definitely not a fine either

You can add that full payment was made and attach a copy of the receipt as proof

They may reply with the £20 keying error option

But wait for any other ideas first

Either ignore and look out for the eventual DCB Legal court claim, that will be discontinued eventually if you defend.

Or tell them a major keying error has been made and to reduce the demand to £20 as per BPA rules.

Anything else will just result in an "appeal rejected" template.

Don't use a template for this one.

Same advice as this one a few days ago:

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

This discussion is slightly different though as the OP paid for the wrong car and also over stayed? In my case, I didn't over stay, just paid for the wrong car. Therefore, would the following suffice?

I, the keeper of the above vehicle, hereby submit an appeal in respect of the above Parking Charge Notice.

On 9th August, I paid the required parking tariff via the RingGo app at the location specified. Unfortunately, I inadvertently entered the registration number of a different vehicle (a keying error). I enclose a copy of the RingGo payment receipt, which confirms that the correct payment for the relevant period was made in full.

I accept that this constitutes a “major keying error”—as defined in the British Parking Association Code of Practice, since the vehicle registration entered does not correspond to the actual vehicle parked. Given that full payment was made, your company suffered no financial loss.

Under Section 17.4 of the BPA Code of Practice, operators should treat such cases as mitigating circumstances. It states that in these instances, especially if proof of legitimate parking is provided, a modest charge of no more than £20 is reasonable for a 14-day period.

As such, I request one of the following resolutions:
    1. Cancellation of this PCN; or
    2. If pursuing full cancellation is not possible, I request that the charge be reduced to the reasonable £20 administration fee allowed under the BPA Code.

Please confirm in writing within 14 days whether this PCN will be cancelled or reduced. If no satisfactory resolution is reached, I intend to escalate this matter to POPLA, citing failure to adhere to the BPA Code.

    Thank you
