Pay debt or apply for mortgage first

Even if it's 0%, it's going to be time limited and come with a fee somewhere around 3-6% if you transfer it elsewhere, and if you can't transfer it at the end of the deal it'll jump up to nearer 30%.
Taking out a new card(s) for a balance transfer deal is going to hurt your credit score pre-mortgage too.
(I had a similar dilemma between paying off a 5.9% credit card deal or a 6.9% loan. I went for the credit card because the loan is more predictable).
Though as said if it's a low rate and you can achieve better elsewhere, which is almost certainly impossible without a lot of risk like the stock market, you're best leaving the card debt and putting the money elsewhere.0 -
Quite definitely, pay off the debt then save for the deposit. You want to go into the house purchase with no other debts and as stated, the debt will significantly affect your borrowing ability.

If it was me, I'd pay off the debt. That way, when the debt is cleared, it would feel like a massive pay rise and having a big mortgage wouldn't be such a big shock.
