Hire a van in Scotland drop off London

Are you trying to get something cheaper than a moving company? I imagine for a long distance it may end up about the same, since you have to pay for the day(s) you have the car to load and drive down, plus the time for the rental co's employee to travel down, stay in a hotel and drive back up.
Vs a moving company who may load up faster and their transport down is already covered, so they just have to drive back up after.

Is it particularly expensive or sentimental furniture? If it's just Ikea stuff it's probably cheaper to sell off in Scotland and re-buy in London.

He was considering it but his bed was £400 but good suggestion though

Just looked at Livingston to London with Enterprise and that seems to be an option. Thanks so much !!!

I have done this with Enterprise before, albeit a few years ago. However, I did have an "interesting" experience - I turned up to collect the van, only to find it wasn't there - someone had manually keyed the location code incorrectly and the van was at a different location 100s of miles away. Slightly unnerving when I was meant to be helping a relative move house over the next couple of days! Just about sorted by getting a smaller van from another local-ish branch, but I would urge to double check arrangements a few days prior in case of issues, especially where a house move is involved and timing is critical.

Probably also worth searching the forums for posts where people have got big charges for damaging the roof which is not included in your insurance waiver. It's another thing to consider Vs hiring someone to do the moving for you if you are not a usual van driver

One way van hire last year with Enterprise from just outside Glasgow to London. No problems whatsoever.
Things that are different: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid1 -
List the job on anyvan.com and see what the quotes are. I’ve used anyvan many times over the years.
And in a few months time I’ll be moving furniture from Largs and Perth down to Winchester so will do the same.1 -
It's not a problem, just expensive, as noted, Livingston to Livingston is £80 for a luton box van, Livingston to Peckham is £350 for the same van and duration. For some the £270 premium is worth the convenience, for others a £50 train ticket and £90 of fuel to return it and £130 in your pocket is a better option. (assuming it will go back empty)
