Spectacles from Specsavers

Bought Specs from Specsavers and had free pair of sunglasses Oct 2025 costing 272 pounds During the last 3 or 4 months I have returned to the shop as both pairs continually slip annoying me down my nose and I am constantly having to push the back up

They have tried several adjustments even putting pads on the plastic nose bits which kept dropping off

Apparently there is a 100 day return for exchange but after that time they will only adjust

I have had to resort to an old pair which is not really appropriate for my vision

as the other ones are not fit for purpose

If someone is sticking nose pads on, they don't understand how spectacles work.

Your spectacles just need proper adjustment. Perhaps visit a different branch of Specsavers instead?

Glasses are held in place by the temple bend holding the bridge against the upper part of your nose. The temple bend is where the backs of the arms turn down to go behind your ears. Just making a sharper bend is not correct and probably will not help. The bend needs to be carefully conformed to the contour of your ears.

You say the problem only began after a few months. Did you change your makeup around that time? If so the glasses were probably a poor fit but gripped your nose by friction just enough to get by. Oily makeup is known to reduce that grip letting loose frames slide down. Correct shaping of the temple bend should be a permanent fix.

Okay, I use Specsavers. Did they when you first went to pick your frames use a sort of IPad? This measured your face, I was told I was quite narrow, and only certain styles of frames would be suitable for me. The next time I went for an eye test, they had my facial measurements already.

I just use normal sunglasses bought from Boots etc. They always slide down unless I buy children's'.

The fact that the OP had the glasses for several months before any problem appeared might suggest that they were damaged in usage in some way, although it seems odd that the problem is with both pair. Has the OP lost weight? and the arms no long fit snuggly to the sides of the face. I always get frames with spring loaded sides to ensure a good fit.

When I choose my glasses from Specsavers I pay particular attention to the dimensions (shown on the website) as my head is small and narrow.

Every pair I've chosen have fitted well with minor adjustments and have stayed that way for the 2 years I've had them.

It sounds odd that both pairs seemed to fit well initially but both pairs are troublesome after 3-4 months. 🤔

This is a situation where you have had some use from specs, but not the amount people would reasonably expect.

While the time for exchange has elapsed, you could suggest buying another pair at a specially discounted price.

After all, Specsavers often offer special discounts to encourage a further purchase when new specs are collected

Given 6 months use before issue started, not fit for purpose is not something you can use.
