Stick a photo on when you've finished. I'd be interested how it turns out. Hopefully it will be good enough for the LL. He might accept that at least you've tried, even if it's not perfect.

Without going into the legalities, I would say that this is actually "accidental", rather than "wilful", and not so much "damage" as an unwanted painted number not fitting their remit. (It looks slightly worse since I tried to remove it naturally with vinegar and baking soda!

WIAWSNB - I really don't want to go down legalities here. I am really seeking some professional help with the removal of the spray-painted number. I have already arranged for a plaque/sign for the place, but I doubt if any of the signs available are big enough to cover this. There are options on the site where I have paid for the plaque to add the street names, too, but I don't think that will be an option for them. I'm afraid I don't think any "overspray" will be tolerated. I did have an idea of perhaps situating the plaque on a piece of wood, or similar, then onto the wall…

Boohoo, I had already ordered a sign/plaque, but I don't believe that whichever style they choose will be large enough to cover the paintwork.

I wouldn't use Amazon, if I can help it, being that they are such an unethical and non eco-friendly business, but the suggestion of Amazon doesn't make any difference to the problem, really.

I'm not surprised you had a £200 quote, although I could rebuild the top 5 courses for that and still make money. The brickwork is a bit rough anyway, especially the Brick on edge with a split in the centre, it would benefit from a tap with the sledge hammer.

Silvercar, I am hoping that the Graffit Remover that I have ordered will sort it now, since the first (and only, so far), quote that I received from "a professional" was £200!! (I cannot afford to go to the Dentist, let alone pay this amount for some paint to be removed). The result in the photo is after I had tried a "natural" solution, but ended up kind of "smudging" some paint outside the edges! I shall have to await the result of this shop bought solution instead.

Bigphil1474, I can't leave it as it is - as I said, the landlords have told me to remove it.

I have already ordered a sign/plaque, but I cannot imagine that it will be large enought to cover the paintwork, unfortunately.

I cannot really paint over the spray paint since - it's not what they have told me to do, it could make it worse, it may not work, but I would say there is as much chance of a Graffiti Remover working as painting over with something that I know nothing about, really.

Thank you for the link. I have looked at this site, but it does say for trade only, and also it starts getting complicated with the health and safety, only specialists applying solution, etc. Unfortunately, it looks like something that I can ill-afford to get in.

Thank you, but someone mentioned this one previously, and I have gone into it, but looks like a trade/professional job using them. I haven't got that sort of money.

You would be wise to find out exactly what the landlord will accept before proceeding

For example they may not even want a number on a piece of wood and certainly might not want screw holes in the bricks.

Speaking personally if it were my property I would want it putting back exactly as it was even if that meant rebuilding the pillar
