Purchase and scammed?
I have made a big mistake. With the temperature being so hot and muggy I went online to purchase something to make it a bit more manageable. I had seen the epicooler and at £137.00 I thought it was reasonable and made a purchase online. The payment was pending but I didn't get an email confirmation. I had seen an order number briefly but didn't make a note of it. Since then I have contacted the website I purchased the cooler from and I got a reply giving me an order number. Since then I have received email replies to say it has been dispatched, but other emails stating my purchase hadnt been completed. Now I'm thinking I've been scammed. The money has now left my bank account and I am kicking myself for being so stupid! I am usually so careful and research before I purchase things online. I did use the Amazon barclaycard.
Would I be able to do a chargeback?
How long do I leave it before I do this?
Order was placed the weekend just gone.
Thankyou

You can contact your card issuer today and raise a section 75 claim, as the merchant is potentially in breach of contract.
The exact timescales would depend on what the promised delivery date was and whether that has passed.0 -
Which website did you buy it from? Can you provide the link to it?
You've likely been 'scammed' already in the sense that the epicooler is literally just a cheap fan stuck in a box to make it look like a wall-mounted AC unit. You can get them for £10-20 on Alibaba or Temu.
If you can provide the website it will be easier to see if it's likely to be a scam - it's probably dropshipped though so 10-14+ days for shipping wouldn't be unheard of.
Hopefully the item won't arrive, then your card protection should kick in. If it does arrive it may be more difficult to get a refund (depending on where you purchased it from).

You can't raise a section 75 claim on the basis of a potential (future) breach of contract - in terms of exact timescales, we're only on the third working day since the order was placed! If the supplier fails to deliver in accordance with agreed dates (or this times out a few weeks down the line) then OP can look to the card provider to intervene, but not at this stage…

Echo @eskbanker
Chargeback would be min 15 days Visa & 30 Mastercard from date of debit. for non receipt.
S75 (OP made no mention of CC purchase, infact said bank account)
Given weather co's supplying stuff like this will be really busy.

OP said they used an Amazon Barclaycard.

Sorry but I think you're jumping the gun here a bit, it's not even clear whether you have been scammed yet or are just being paranoid.
You didn't say where you bought it from? You say it has been despatched, did they give an ETD? What about tracking details?
I don't think you should get yourself riled up over scamming until you've at least had an opportunity to receive it, and if not received, at least exhausted communication with them to verify the delivery details. You can contact your card issuer today and raise a section 75 claim, as the merchant is potentially in breach of contract.
Sorry but what? Of course you can't raise a s75 for a potential breach of contract… there's not even anything really out of the ordinary, the order was only placed a few days ago!

He also said the money had left his bank account

Yeah, given the specific card mentioned I assumed OP meant it was showing up on their cc account, but it's not clear.

As has been mentioned above, you've probably paid £137 for a wall-mounted fan heater.
Does it look like this?

There were proper portable air conditioners available for a little under £200 back on March and April but strangely enough they're now either sold out or £300+.
