@ Vinted on Insta, 940k followers, could try commenting on posts until they give a response or maybe one of the 940k has had this situation

OK so I will ask them who Cancelled the item and see what they come back with

This is from the Vinted help page - has the buyer indicated they have an issue?
"We may cancel the order if:
- The item was damaged in transit.
- The item got lost or was returned to the seller.
- The item was significantly not as described in the seller’s listing.
For the cases mentioned above, the buyer needs to press "I have an issue" — when this happens, we’ll put the transaction on hold and investigate the claim."
I think you have two potential arguments to make:
- The item was lost - as Vinted organised the courier they need to address this and compensate you accordingly.
- The sale was cancelled. As long as it wasn't cancelled by you, this was done after the item had been posted, and so Vinted need to ensure the item is returned to you. Either that or compensate you if it can't be returned.

if the parcel was lost though and Vinted finalised the order, which is correct, then buyer gets a refund, but seller gets funds released as compensation.
This is not explained well when the ‘buyer has received a refund’ email is sent to selelr, and many sellers miss the fact that they actually got the fu DS released. The easiest way to check is to go to the balance page and see if it is there under compensation.
However there are also instances where seller has cancelled the sale themselves once it shows as lost, and in that case the buyer gets a refund but the cancellation by the seller means that they don’t get compensation.

I have asked Vinted who cancelled the order but no response yet. I am wondering if I have accidently cancelled the item, so far they have just said the order was cancelled but not by who. I have asked how an item can be cancelled once the Buyer has reported the item lost, but again they have not responded. I am struggling to understand how an item can be lost (Evri have admitted that) but neither Vinted nor Evri are held responsible?

See my responses back. It is perfectly possible to cancel and refund a lost item , there are several mentions a week of sellers or buyers accidently cancelling a sale trying to see if there’s a quick way to refund on a lost item rather than wait the 4-6 weeks for VInted to refund. If the refund process had been allowed to continue then VInted would have compensated you.
You’ll be lucky to get a response from VInted, they are not noted for being particularly helpful as they seem to have very few human staff. At the moment Vinted bots seem to be more interested in banning people, I’m on a warning at the moment for selling too much , yet that warning was received after a spate of messages urging me to list more as ‘the more listings I have the more I’ll sell’, and although I’m currently on holiday mode I’m still getting messages urging me to carry on listing.
