At EOn iirc, their standard for a user requested credit refund mid contract is 3 working weeks.
But there is a lower Ofgem limit on leaving - once final bill issued - 10 days
Iirc the Ofgem docs, There's a fine if they go over the 6 weeks for final bill, not sure if then an extra penalty or not for lower 2 weeks (10 working days) on top for final credit refund. So thats a total of upto 8 weeks - so pushing Aug for early June switch.
See switch section on
As to DD they shouldn't take any settlement without notifying the change - and the DD is normally fastest way to get refund(*)
If they do take money by mistake, your bank will organise rebate in a few days.
(*) One user recently posted it was their suppliers only route and had to set a DD back up just for refund. (Sorry forgotten which supplier)

Likewise. Ended up getting £60 statutory compensation out of them for the delays. I believe automatic compensation is now £40 for each failing.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
