Premierinn changed to Silentnight from Hypnos about the time I last bought a bed. I was considering Hypnos and mentioned Premierinn and the sales person told me they had changed supplier. Agree they are comfortable.

Thanks - that makes sense. I recall seeing an advert card for their mattress on the table in the room, and I would have noticed if it had been 'Silentnight'. Yes, Hypnos rings a sleepy bell.

I bought a Silentnight through Premier Inn last year. I've no idea how comfortable it is, it's in the spare room, but delivery and customer service were awful. Bensons for all the other beds were great.

Dad bought us oak wood beds when we were little, I still use the same bed at 41 (yes I stole it 😆 when I moved out). Still going strong. Fantastic quality. Not a single fault.

I bought them Simba mattress and I expected dad to complain cuz he's very critical, and he's never complained. It is breathable which was his main concern. I just bought one for myself but still not used it, it is dusting in another room 🤔

I don't get on with a solely memory foam mattress so got a sprung mattress which also combined natural fibre with memory foam.

I got a Hypnos mattress online from Beds Are Uzzz, they have shops in West London and Thames Valley area. Despite the naff name there were excellent and very good prices. Lead in time was I think around 7-8 weeks

I also got a double Silentnight Miracoil Memory Cushion Top Mattress & Divan from Costco for the spare room, it was £500 and the headboard £75 and that was delivered in no time and the delivery service good. A single mattress with two divan drawers is £370.

Like Beds Are Uzzz they will take away the old mattress, as long as it is not soiled, for a fee. Not sure about the bed base though, it may be cheaper to book a special collection spot from your local council if you have other bulky items to get rid off. It will vary per council but I paid about £80 for up to 6 items.

I was surprised how expensive headboards are these days, I managed to get a cheap one for the Hypnos from Amazon

I suggest wooden or metal bed frame with decent mattress. Easy to wipe clean and hoovering...

If you don't have time to shop around. You can go for those online mattress shop who offer 100 nights trial (use mattress protector). For example Mattress Online provides a 100-night comfort trial with £49 fee for exchange and collect.

If you have access to Which (or know someone who will look it up for you) its worth looking at their reviews of mattresses. before you buy.

You may need to consider how hot/cool a mattress is at night, particularly if you are a lady of a certain age.. I found the Emma mattresses to be far, far too hot at night, probably because it was full of man-made materials. OH wanted a Hypnos mattress and that has been far better for me as it is made from natural materials.

Second son bought a Simba mattress, and is quite pleased with that.

I’ve slept in countless different beds in hotel rooms over the years. But the one and only time I emailed them to find out the mattress make (because it was soo comfortable) was after a trip to Cork City, Ireland about 15 years ago.

The mattress was…Dunlopillo Millennium.

Be careful what you wish for.
