    It's not a bad engine but they have had a few niggles.

    Some have suffered stretched timing chains at pretty low mileages and turbo bearings are known to wear, but I think these are symptoms of poor servicing and wrong spec oils rather than anything else.

    There are some simple but clever engineering in them. They've put the exhaust manifold inside the cylinder head so the turbo is nearer. This has allowed them to keep the wastegate open longer at low rpm to save on pumping losses without introducing lots of lag. An elegantly simple solution when you compared to other manufacturers messing around with complicated devices that hold valves open to achieve the same thing.
