Keeping old number with Tesco Mobile MSE deal
Utilised a SIM only deal on the MSE comparison tool for Tesco Mobile.
Received the SIM and wishing to Port the old number from the old network over.
Usually with some other networks like Lebara, you can input your PAC code and choose a specific Switch date using their website/app. Which gives you a little certainty.
Does anyone have any experience with Tesco Mobile? Followed the instructions that came with the SIM and on their own website. In this case it appears you have to text PORT to 23424 from the new Tesco Mobile SIM and reply to the automated system which responds. It was a little surprising that there wasn't a form on the Account page online to be able to input details and select a date.
The website says it should happen within the next working day. When you text the automated system, it does reply and ask you to send first the old number and after that it follows up requesting your PAC code. You eventually get a text message reply saying that everything is all set and you will receive a text message within 24 hours with your switch date. I am yet to receive this text message so fingers crossed.
I hope it works! Does anyone have any experience with Tesco Mobile as to whether the switching process does indeed happen within 1 working day and your old number was successfully moved over?
Many thanks

Porting is the same with all networks as they all use the same process set out at mnposg.org.uk
If you request the port (by giving the new provider the PAC issued by your current provider) before 5pm on a working day then the port takes place the next working day. Some firms will delay your request so that the port happens on a day you choose.
If you make the request after 5pm then it is treated as having been made the following day.
So if you request the port on a Tuesday at 4.30pm on a Tuesday then it will port on Wednesday usually by 4pm.but no later than 10pm.
On the other hand, request the port at 5.30pm the port happens on Thursday.
If you request a port on the weekend then the port happens Tuesday unless Monday is a bank holiday.

Yes, I was familiar with the process that some firms have of an online form where you can choose a specific future date to give a degree of certainty. It looks like Tesco Mobile uses the 'next working day' as you said from when you send them your PAC code. I did receive a confirmation text from them eventually which confirmed the number would be moved over today and thankfully it has indeed worked and switched over today.
Many thanks.
