Thanks so much. The form was limited to 500 characters but I could attach my detailed email as a PDF.
So that's done. I will update the thread when I hear back.

Tesco are lying to you anmd trying to deceive you.
you may have grounds to take this further this may also have some grounds to take this to the CMA.
Could this also be fraud through mis representation?
If you have been told this by the staff and/or management at the Tesco involved they should be individually pulled into this personally.
The sooner the private parking sham starts to hit people personally in the pocket and has a real financial impact upon the staff at Tesco the sooner the whole PPC charade will come to a grinding halt.
From the Plain Language Commission:
"The BPA has surely become one of the most socially dangerous organisations in the UK"5 -
The person from the CEO office only would give me her first name. She was so cold like she was reading from a script. Which made me wonder if they are now told what to say.
The customer services started out all friendly but then came back with the disinformation. I assume they had to go and speak to someone higher up who then directed them.
Clearly this isn't new to them, so rather than put a process in place to help customers they fob them off.
As mentioned this happened to me before at Sainsburys but at least they had the courtesy to acknowledge it was a known issue and didn't hesitate in rectifying it.
I remember the good old days when these stores cared about their reputation and would even compensate shoppers for the inconvenience.
Even if it gets sorted I don't think I will let this one lie and continue to complain about how this was handled.

"
Even if it gets sorted I don't think I will let this one lie and continue to complain about how this was handled."Do that now and explain double dips to them and that it's a data breach. Tesco are jointly and severally liable. The data being with a third party debt crawler is completely irrelevant because there was no reasonable cause to get your DVLA data. It was unlawful.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Good proof to hammer Tesco with and to backup the allegations in the previous replies about unlawful processing of your data, plus that Tesco are jointly and severally liable for the actions of their contractors etc
It also shows them up with the foboff phone call too

Thank you and thanks to everyone for the advice.
Regarding Tesco, is this an email to their legal department or complaints?
