I reinstalled Edge but unfortunately had the same problem.

Back to using Firefox.

To conclude this thread; after a lot of hunting I managed to find a page with a file return button four sub levels down from the main page.

After submitting my details I received confirmation that I have overpaid tax and due a refund which agrees with my Excel spreadsheet calculations; so the effort was worthwhile.

Did you manage to submit your request for a refund successfully? After inputing the bank account details and amount I just get returned to the login page. After logging back in I'm at the homepage with nothing obvious to indicate that my request was submitted/successful.

May be the reason of the SA is to claim back overpaid tax? Or some other logical reason.

I managed to submit my tax return successfully.

If memory serves there was an option to list the tax returns already filed.
However the website has changed a lot since I used it last year so i don't know if it's still there or where to find it.

So you didn't submit a specific request for the refund to expedite it, you're just going to let it take its course and wait for HMRC to send it.

Got mine sorted in the end. Used a different device. Seems my PC was the issue for some unknown reason.

I have received the occasional letter encouraging me to submit a tax return in previous years but not this year.

No encouragement was required this year as I was convinced I was paying too much tax.

After completing the tax return, the summary generated by the website confirmed that I was correct.
