EV but no driveway: Is this a foolish idea?

Most places I’ve worked cite “tax reasons” as a way of justifying unpopular decisions 😜

"…none EV drivers might rock the boat because some people are just that way inclined."
I might be "that way inclined" if I discovered that my employer was paying for the cars of some of my colleagues to be refuelled, but not mine simply on the basis of what car each of us drives.

well the public sector doesn't get to choose how to abuse public money, they didnt need a justification to stop, public money should be spent on providing the public with the services theyre meant to provide. Extra money goes back to treasury.

They are just for workplace charging

(about workplace charging remaining free..)
Yeah, that’s my worry too. I’ll ask but I expect them to say we can only see X months in future …0 -
It's not "abusing public money" if the free charging is part of a reward and recognition package and necessary to attract and retain top talent.

if this is for "selected top performing" employees, you could argue that, but just having an EV has nothing to do with reward and recognition. It's public money awfully spent.

I really see it as no different to any business offering a range of "perks" as part of the overall reward package. Some people get gym membership, others get shopping voucher schemes (reward gateway or similar), others get a better pension, some get fuel card, some get EV charging, some get more basic pay, some get extra holiday, some get dental plans, some get healthcare plans, and so on.
If it is not appropriate for a reward package to have EV charging, then do we also rule out all the other elements that might make up the reward package?
We can't simultaneously expect good public sector services if we do not allow the individuals that choose to work in those services to have a competitive overall reward package. I see no reason why work-place EV charging should be ruled out of that reward package on principle.

Because it's discriminatory unless they offer to pay for petrol/diesel for IC car owners.

No it isn't. Choice of car is not a protected characteristic, it is perfectly possible for fossil drivers to change their vehicle type and take full advantage of what's on offer whilst it lasts.
