issues with Klarna & Expedia - unable to get refund
i tried to book return flights on Sunday and the only payment it would accept was bank transfer through Klarna. I got an email confirmation with an Expedia booking ref and could see payment pending. All good i thought.
i logged into Expedia and no booking. Rang Expedia and no booking on that ref with my email or tel no - they said payment would drop out with 72 hours.
5 days later - Klarna have had payment and my bank say they can do nothing as it was a bank transfer
Expedia are saying they have no booking nor any payment
Klarna are telling me to contact Expedia
Also on the Klarna app it shows Expedia £531.100 and a purchase of £355.20
any thoughts? anyone had this before?

For the benefit of others.
What was the reason for not booking direct with the airline?

I suspect the ability to pay by Klarna through Expedia.

Doubt it, the OP is claiming it was the "only" payment method they were taking, which suggests to me it certainly wasnt the preferred one.

If no booking with Expedia are you sure it was a genuine site that you were on? Could it be a scam site that looked like Expedia? Does the email match previous ones from Expedia? Doesn't make sense that a booking was made and paid but not on their system.

Forgive me regarding Klarna as I know what it is but not used it so not sure how it works, but bank transfer? Are you sure this was a legitimate Expedia site?
I have used Expedia for about 20 years and never had any issues with a booking not being found.
Could you get Expedia to email you in writing there is no booking so you can go back to Klarna perhaps?

it was the legitimate Expedia site and i have emails from Expedia stating they have no booking under my email or tel no and provided proof for Klarna. I chose Expedia and it was 2 different flight companies and I stupidly thought using Expedia I could keep track of them in one place.
i did not want to use Klarna but the other options on Expedia would not go through and yes this was not my payment method of choice but I needed to secure flights.
I know it partially worked as I could one of the flights on the JET2 website. these have been cancelled .

Doesn't the fact that Expedia have no record of your booking suggest that it may have been a rogue site that you were 'booking' on?

Have you given Expedia a copy of the confirmation email?

If you are certain it is a real site, then send Expedia a copy of the email as they can't dispute it then.
But please know that there is always possibility it wasn't a real site.

Looking at the browser history will show exactly what site was visited. this would also be good evidence to support any claims… take screenshots of dates, times and URL's visited.
