Washable bag

For travelling can anyone recommend a bag which I can carry on a flight as I travel light?

Ideally I want something washable if that exists?

What size of bag are you looking for? Is it just for passport, keys, wallet, book etc, or are you looking to carry clothes, laptop etc.

Cross body, backpack or shoulder/tote bag?

Budget? And what gender are you... Some bags come in gendered fits.

Personally I'm a fan of crumpler for a big travel rucksack which I use with one of the small crossbody bags from Uniqlo for my passport etc. leaving my hands free. But neither of these are machine washable.

This thread might be of interest to the OP:

What does the OP mean and require by "washable"?

Both of the bags I mentioned in the linked thread can easily be sponged down. They could probably go through a washing machine - I don't know. TBH at the price point of the bags I purchased, if they got so bad they needed a full wash, I'd either wash them and see what happened or dispose and start again.

I have successfully washed two North Face backpacks in the machine - although I didn't put them through the spin cycle. I've only attempted this once each, I wouldn't make a habit of washing them.

It's also worth checking the size restriction for the airlines you use as they vary. A perfect carry on bag for one might not be allowed on another , If you travel a lot and use different airlines then make sure you opt for a bag that is allowed for the smallest size allowance.

You might struggle with the machine washable aspect... Most rucksacks are wipe clean.

Which airlines do you fly with most, and what is your budget -- bags can be had for £20 up to £200+

Edit: this bag from decathlon is £12.99 and described as hand washable - I'd do this in the machine, inside a delicates bag on a gentle cycle without spin. How robust / comfy it is, is a different question.

THE most important thing about a bag for inside the cabin is the size, to ensure it is within the airline's permitted allowance. This is why you've been asked which airline you will be flying with. For example, you would struggle to get many, if any, clothes in a Ryanair size bag. The second most important thing is the weight, if the airline has a weight limit.
