Emirates Package Holiday Amendment
Anyone had any experience with amending bookings? I have contacted Emirates holidays to amend our package holiday to Dubai ins September as two of our group are not willing to travel because of the situation.
i was expecting a reduced price considering two passengers have cancelled and we are losing one room. which means the remaining passenger in room one is moving in with the other two remaining passengers into the triple room!
however the individual price seems to have increased. when questioned Emirates advised that the Mina Salam had cancelled and rebooked the triple room, so we have been charged a new rate! is this correct? how is allowed to happen when we are simply moving an original passenger into the triple room which we already have booked?!!! annoyed is not the word.

Read Your contract, what does it say about changes/cancellations?
In general, amending a holiday for e.g. 5 people to only include 3 people will often result in a higher cost per person as prices change, there are fees to include etc etc.
When you spoke to Emirates, did you ask them to cancel the double room specifically, or did you just tell them two passengers would no longer be travelling?

Was the triple room specifically booked as such, or was it booked as a double and purely allocated as a triple?
Either way, if expect a triple room with triple occupancy to cost more than a triple room with double occupancy as more breakfasts etc required.
The situation at the location might change before September.

Yes, the triple room was booked as a triple room! it didn't make any sense to keep two rooms, so hence moved the remaining passenger in the double room into the space of the other passenger not going in the triple room! hope this makes sense :-)

Is this correct
triple room for A, B and CDouble room for E and F
C and F cancel
E moves into space on triple room due to C cancelling
Empty Double room cancelled.

Who is the lead passenger in the bookings ?
I suspect that may have a bearing on this situation.

You do need to read the T&C regarding changes to the booking. That's really the only way to get a proper understanding of what Emirates are doing. It may, for example, be a case that changing the number of people results in a complete new booking, which could explain the price increases.

im the lead passenger, and the one being moved into the triple room.

Apologies - I misread the scenario - thought it might have been one of the two who have opted out that changed the booking.
They won't be covered by their travel insurance I suspect - disinclination to travel is not safeguarded.
What do the Ts&Cs say about cancellations ?

Another possibility that I actually got caught by, was amendments resulting in the loss of any discounts on the original price.
