However, it does seem very US focused (as does the Fidelity World P). Is this just because so many of the traded companies in the world are US based?
The % split between countries is based on the comparative total value of the size/value of their stock markets ( I think). The US stock markets account for about two thirds of the global total and the UK is <4%. Eurozone is about 7%.
I don't want to receive money back and then re-invest it so I'm assuming I shuld always go for accumudlation and just reinvest any gains back into the fund?
Correct.
Also as there are no entry and exit dealing charge on a children's ISA there is no obvious down side on spreading the money across a few different funds?
I would guess most people do not bother with multiple funds with the amounts involved. Just one ' fire & forget' fund for simplicity.

When looking at a fund manager's charges I can understand the net ongoing charge but what the "Transaction Costs"
…costs include the explicit costs the maanger incurs whilst dealing on behalf of the fund (broker commission, taxes and custodial charges) as well as measure of the fund's trading performance when buying and selling underlying investments. This measure produces an implicit value which, when added to the explicit charge, can result in a negatove transaction cost"
This isn't a big amount £5.04 annually based on a £5000 balance but curious to know what it relates to.
If a menimum amount per trade then better to go for a smaler number of larger trades but if makes no difference then I have flexibility.0 -
Also, for those puting money in on a monthly direct debit do these then incur charges each time money is deposited?

It varies from provider to provider but if the money is going into a fund on HL platform, then no.
Transaction costs are certain costs incurred internally by the fund in the course of running it. Historically they were never disclosed as just seen as part of the day to day running. New legislation insisted on more transparency and so now they are disclosed, although it has probably caused more confusion than anything else. Best to just ignore them.

Many thanks for the help. These boards are a great source of info as ever.

In the end I didn't get around to putting money in any funds but did add them to my watchlist. They've all dropped in value so a slight benefit in my procrastination. The current state of the world could cause further drops but lets see.
