Basic broadband and security cameras
Recommendations please.
I'm looking for basic broadband for my dad, he's recently been quite poorly and now he's home, my sister and I are looking at getting 2/3 cameras dotted around that house, just so we can check in on him.
We don't want anything flash, with super fast speeds, as it's just for cameras and something that doesn't need an engineer to come and drill holes and route cables (if something like this exists?)
Thanks in advance for your help.

We had the same issues …..
We went with a WiFi Router, a cheap Sim deal (in the router), camera.
and an SD card in each camera if you want to be able to check back on something
A 32GB card gives about 2 days history
No contracts, no drilling
Router

SIM
https://www.lebara.co.uk/en/best-sim-only-deals.html - £5 / month - 5GB should be enough (Vodafone)
Cameras

Very easy to set up from your mobile phone and did exactly what was needed0 -
First link's to a camera, last link doesn't work.
All good as long as there's a decent mobile signal indoors for whatever network you you choose.

Thank you so much for this, with the SIM, did you have a 30 day or 12 month plan? and what GB?
Also, how does the SIM only work? as my dad doesn't have a mobile (sorry if this sounds thick)

Just the rolling 30 day type we had but up to you
GB depends on how often you are going to be checking in or reviewing recordings
with Lebara (probably others) you can always increase it (online) if you find you need more
Don't worry he doesn't need a mobile, the SIM goes in the wireless router
You'll set it all up on/via your phone0 -
That's great, now I know the SIM goes in the router I'll compare prices with other SIM only deals.
Thanks again for your help.

The SIM goes into the router, gives a mobile network connection and the router provides a wi-fi signal for the camera(s) to connect to.
You'll need a mobile phone to set up the camera(s).

Myself or my sister can do that from our mobile.
SPC 0370 -
Yes- either one of you could set it up their phone
Once setup on one phone the camera app will allow you to share the camera control/images with other family members if reqd ( they would need the camera app too)0 -
Just a heads up about the Tapo cameras in the link above. I have had 4 for several years and they are quite temperamental, and often lose the internet connection. It's a common problem. Seems they need rebooting on a regular basis.
