Would getting “the straits” added to the others make a difference?

You simply can't be sure about that until you've tried. Phone Octopus, explain the situation and see what they say. If they initially say no, call again later, preferably withholding your number so that you won't automatically be sent to the same small team (141 from a landline, #31# from a mobile). Escalate to a team leader if necessary.

If still no luck with Octopus, try a few others.

If a supplier starts a switch but BG block the transfer, go to Energy Ombudsman.

Have done that with a couple of suppliers. It gets rejected.

They will not do anything until BG change it.

Many energy suppliers, especially the smaller ones do not offer business accounts or separate the companies between residential and business so they would reject a switch.

This is why Octopus was suggested above, as they can handle business and residential and are a common destination for those needing to switch from business to residential.

You need to make it clear that you wish to be switched to an Octopus Business account, then changed to residential, they can and have done that in the past but you'll need to be speaking to a CS agent you understands about business accounts and the process.
