Eon smart meter broke boiler

As she only purchased the house 3 weeks ago could anyone comment on getting some recompense from the house seller and if the boiler was included in a survey?

I accidentally blew the board on my 18 year old boiler when I cut through my lawn mower lead , main trip switch tripped , unplugged extension lead rest trip .
Found out later we had no hot water etc. rang my boiler servicing guy , explained what happened he came out had a test of everything ….. board fried. So it can happen , I chose to replace boiler at my own cost

Nothing due from the seller, and a survey is not going to give you any coverage for the boiler.
In the documents provided by the seller there will be one called a TA6, if there was any warranty on the boiler then it will have been listed there, other than that there is no liability for the seller.
Odds are there was no warranty in place, and no obligation for there to be one.

As the house is new did the purchaser have a gas installtion check which would comment on the age and condition of the boiler?

I have to agree with the majority so the topic should actually be:
"My boiler failed when the power was switched off and on during a meter change, do EON have any responsibility?"
The answer is no, repairs are down to the householder unless you can actually prove negligence.4 -
… house they purchased three weeks ago on Friday
When you move into a new place you begin to discover all the foibles and failings there that you didn't know about before. We discovered that the previous occupant had done their own plumbing badly and the bathroom floor was soaking wet. Your daughter discovered that her gas boiler was so old that if a circuit board failed it could not be repaired. That's very unfortunate but the worst the smart meter fitter could have done was to simulate a power cut.

This is like a daily mail headline "Electric Smart meter broke my gas boiler"
Jokes aside sorry OP but this is going to be difficult to lay at the blame of the smart meter installation for the many reasons listed above.
When we had our smart meter replaced it was a case of turn everything off first, power down until the work was completed.

PLEASE answer the questions about boiler make, model and approximate age… it's relevant!

Agreed, too many random 'engineers' will favour a new replacement over chasing down the exact fault in the current old boiler…
It is worth verifying if parts are still available…

and if not exceedingly old ,( I.e. obsolete ) that earlier mention of a manufacturer fix could be worth investigating.
As an example my boiler ( 10+ years old ) failed at service time. Worcester Bosch called in to fix on their fixed price offer. Cost £ approx 350. Interior nearly all new parts. Hope to get another 10 years out of it.
Not an ideal time for a problem, so much to do when just moved and a new baby. A quick fix would be my choice but you might want to hold out for some unlikely compensation?
