Car Finance (Personal Lease) - Faulty Car

Hi,

Last July we received a Skoda Enyaq Sportline through a personal lease agreement. However, immediately I noticed a steering issue. Long story short, VWS have accepted that there is now a known issue with this car and some others produced at that time, however, they have yet to identify what the issue actually is far less how to resolve it.

I've made it known to them that I'm pursuing compensation as it's been confirmed that I have had a faulty (brand new) vehicle delivered and there is no indication as to when it'll be resolved. They've said I can only do this when the situation has been rectified, which makes sense.

Does anyone have any idea what I might be entitled to and realistically what I should be pursuing?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

    Is it a managed lease?

Managed as in tyres covered etc? In that case, no.

Is the response from your dealer or Vw customer services, or from the finance company (VWFS?) and have you raised with the finance provider as a complaint? Is the car in use and/or safe to drive - I'd expect a loan car if not and an agreed timescale to come up with a fix, at which point they accept the car back/replace it if not sorted?

What actually is the issue with the steering? Are you still using the car?

New cars are highly complex and software gremlins are not uncommon

Depends on the severity of the issue

VW and VWFS are both aware but have essentially paused my claim until they have found a resolution to the problem and carried out the work necessary, whatever that proves to be.

We can still drive the car but there is an obvious noise when you turn sharp corners. We've paid a premium for the car to avoid issues like this and it's certainly impacting the experience. We're approaching a year now but they've only recently accepted the issue exists.

You are not going to get compensation for a bit of noise when cornering tightly, at least more than a "shut up and go away" gesture of good will.

Agreed you might get a couple of hundred depending how long it goes on for but I wouldn't loose sleep on it for now till they get a fix organised

I wonder if this is similar to the Mercedes "tyre skip"/"crabbing" issue…

    https://www.mercedes-benzsouthwest.co.uk/blog/tyre-crabbing

One root cause of it is the ridiculously over-large tyres on many modern cars.
