Is this the fourth version or the fifth?

I had a payg SIM with a bit of free credit years ago when it was an mvno on Vodafone, then it moved business customers elsewhere and probably closed down payg

How can it be "Better value with combined broadband" if you can't get it without their broadband?

It’s a strange business setup. If I have it right, they started moving all residential customers over to EE then a new CEO came in and stopped that. A good portion of their customers are now EE with no real distinction between them.

The difference in the mobile contracts seems to be that EE charge for EU roaming.

So if you’re an EE customer for broadband is this deal not open to you even though you’re effectively a customer of the same company?

EE only charge for EU roaming in some plans, others include EU roaming and some even include ROW roaming (US, Australia etc).

BT seem to have difficulty knowing what to do with mobiles, they've been regularly changing their minds since their O2 days.

Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.

I fail to see how they can claim it is better value… 1p Mobile running on the self same EE infrastructure, including use of 5G, is less per month for unlimited calls and the same (or more) data. Both are 30 day rolling with EU roaming. You don't have to have anyone's broadband to have 1p Mobile either.

    Example prices:
    10 GB, 1p £8/month, BT £9/month
    50 GB, 1p £10/month, BT £15 (30 GB) or £18 (75 GB). For £15/month, 1p give you 100 GB.

Not forgetting; 1p - 150GB £17.50pm vs. BT - 75GB £18pm (the 1p one is hidden under the 'See all plans' button).

I think it would be more accurate to say they charge for roaming on most plans. It’s only the most expensive plans that include roaming.

I tend to use travel eSIMs anyway. I looked this morning for an eSIM deal that included calls for the EU and the best I could find online was an offer from eSIM.net, £13 for a 30 day, 30Gb and 50 minutes voice sim.

EE wanted more than twice that to add roaming to my existing PAYG SIM for just twelve days.

The network offering the £13 deal? EE
