Can I connect to BT Fibre hub with ethernet cable

Firstly apologies if this sound daft but I am not techie minded.

Last year stayed at hol cottage which had modem box same as mine at home BT. While mine is great and just use wifi, in the cottage it was difficult to keep connected and signal dropped constantly useing laptop, other than really late at night. Phone signal was the main option.

I have a cable and wonder if when we revisted in June I can plug it in back modem to my laptop and will it improve things.

So question is will it be ok, I dont want to disrupt anything with there modem but will it work.

Maybe they have rectified it by now….but no problem taking the cable with me.

Could be that the internet connection feeding the router ("the box") is iffy and the cable won't make much difference, but as @bazdvd says, it won't harm anything to try.
