Repeated Kirbing of 18" alloys

My car has 175/65R14 tyres and I have managed to avoid kerbs (not curbs!)although I do try and curb my enthusiasm, with one exception, in 12 years of ownership. Possibly down to the 65 aspect ratio rather than my lack of parking proficiency!
I have to confess to the use of door mirrors being adjusted to view the kerb edge when parking at a roadside.
I did damage an alloy wheel some years ago, an icy untreated side road, going round a sharp right hand bend too fast, the car slid and the front nearside wheel scraped the kerb. It was fortunately repairable. Yes, I did have the front suspension, tracking and steering checked afterwards.

They make an appearance in the Pixar Cars movie. In the scene where they have all the neon signs lit, one of the signs is for "Mr Curb Feeler". Look at the Sheriff car.
