Look at the Home Page on your Octopus account. It will show details of your current tariffs. See if it mentions exit charges there.

Unless you are with E.On Next who used to blatantly put "Exit fee: None" on my bills even though there was one. 😄

    No - definitely not

Even the rates are hiked up

    Gas - Octopus 12M Fixed
    Unit charge: 6.72p/kWh
    Standing charge: 28.42p/day
    Early exit fee: £50.00
    Electricity - Octopus 12M Fixed
    Unit charge: 23.96p/kWh
    Standing charge: 44.35p/day
    Early exit fee: £50.00
Prices include VAT and any applicable EPG discounts.

This is going to take some explaining

As I think we've all realised, those aren't your current tariffs.

Also, you knew they weren't your current tariffs as you shared them here only last week.

Given that you knew they were wrong, how exactly did it stop you switching to Fuse?

I was stopped from changing to fuse - because I was told that if I did move - it would cost me £100 !

So Octopus didn't actually stop you, they just made you doubt yourself?

Then you checked your account, realised they were wrong and ... still didn't switch?

Please don't misunderstand me, Octopus CS gave you the wrong information and they owe you an apology but it was so obviously wrong that I can't quite grasp how it prevented you from switching?

According to Octopus - I have £50 per item - early exit fees on my account
I have an email from Octopus when I signed up "NO EXIT FEES"

Just for interest's sake, the clause quoted below appears in my supplier's Core Terms:

9.1 We can make changes to your Contract anytime, including changing our pricing and payment methods. If we make changes, we’ll make a copy of any new Terms and conditions available on our website. Please check this page regularly to review updated Terms.

I shouldn't be surprised if other suppliers had similar text in their contracts.

You MUST phone a real person at Octopus. It's free, usually fairly quick to get through, they understand and speak English fluently so that's the way to go.

As others have said, they may just be trying to be helpful by pointing out that signing up to a new Octopus tariff will include exit fees.

If no luck, switch to your new preferred supplier and see what happens. Complain if Octopus do charge an exit fee and go to the Ombudsman if it's unresolved after eight weeks.

But I'd be surprised if it's not sorted out on the phone, and even more surprised if they did charge the exit fee.

You stopped the switch is that right?

Octopus did not hold you over a barrel for £100 and stop the switch did they?

You knew the product you have had no exit fees?

So you could have switched and sorted all this out with a complaint.
