Well after much to and fro with emails LNER have at last admitted their signs do not comply with legislation and I have received this from them.

Thank you for contacting the London North Eastern Railway Parking Team.

I’m very sorry to hear about your experience and the concerns you’ve raised regarding parking for Blue Badge holders. I fully appreciate how important clear information and accessible facilities are, and I understand why this has caused frustration.

    Blue Badge parking and charges

Blue Badge holders are able to use designated accessible parking bays; however, standard parking charges do apply unless signage at the location states otherwise. I recognise that this may not have been clear, particularly if the information is not easily visible near the bays themselves.

Availability of information (Code of Practice)

You have raised an important point regarding the requirement for clear information to be available before leaving the vehicle, and I appreciate your reference to the relevant Code of Practice.

We understand that customers should be able to view tariffs and conditions easily, and it is essential that:

    • Charges are clearly displayed in accessible locations
    • Requirements for Blue Badge holders are made explicit
    • Payment instructions are easy to follow

I’m sorry to hear that this was not your experience, particularly in relation to:

    • The location of signage
    • The distance to the payment machine
    • The lack of clarity around the 20?minute free period and subsequent charges

     What we will do

Your feedback is extremely important, and I will ensure this is escalated to the relevant teams for review, specifically regarding:

    • The placement and visibility of signage near disabled bays
    • Clear communication of Blue Badge parking requirements
    • Accessibility of payment facilities

     Moving forward

We are committed to improving accessibility for all customers, and feedback like yours helps us identify where changes are needed.

Once again, I’m very sorry for the inconvenience caused and thank you for taking the time to highlight these issues.

Thanks again for getting in touch.
Yours sincerely. Christy. Parking Team. London North Eastern Railway

I would reply asking why they haven't yet ordered the parking operator to cancel your PCN, given they have identified and admitted their rogue agent is operating in breach of the Code of Practice regarding mandatory (visible without leaving the driver's seat) terms in accessible bays.

I had already got cancellations for the 3 people I was helping and was continuing to correspond with LNER to get the signs sorted.

At least 2 others paid so I will now get in touch with those victims to claim refunds but they may not want the hastle.
