I had a full Stainless system made by Longlife a few years ago. It was pretty good for the money, but bear in mind that many Stainless systems and not 300 series, they are 400 series and the welds rust and the sound deadening can still degrade.Happy chappy0

http://www.clutch-specialists.co.uk/search_result.asp sells various clutches, not original branded though.0

OH phoned the local ford dealership. They quoted £130.75 for exhaust (not stainless) & £169 for clutch.
The guy suggested replacing exhaust with non-stainless if we didn't intend to keep car for a long time. + the exhaust that is on the car at the mo isn't stainless and has never been changed. So it's done a good job.
Are those quotes resonable?0 -
Is this fitted? Or just parts supply only?0

These people are good and cheap. Puma 1.7 exhaust works out at £106.31 plus delivery (I'm assuming you don't need the cat which is the expensive bit in the downpipe:

Don't fit stainless as it's classed as a modification by insurance, and for a non-turbo car adds little or no extra power.
Clutch kit from them is £142.50. For a clutch you're better off going to a local clutch specialist and getting a "supply & fit" price.0 -

In that case a clutch is £78.83 delivered from the link above, just under half ford's price (although not original).
If you know someone who'll replace stuff really cheap, and you'll know them in a few years time, and money is tight now, might make sense to go for the absolute lowest knock-down prices possible and take a gamble on them?
A stainless steel shouldn't be an insurance modification so long as it retains the properties of the original, as all it is is a metal bit designed to take fumes from part a to part b. Wasn't suggesting it would add power, or to go for anything with less silencers or a wider pipe than standard, or to de-cat, just that it may well last longeralthough tomstickland suggests things can still go wrong.

I was going to go for stainless until the Ford guy said the original wasn't stainless; Ford standard exhaust is just plain steel. So, cause the old one has lasted so long, I think it's a fairly good option.
As for clutch; wasn't sure that website you suggested price included the hydrolic valve. Does it include that part?0 -
