best place to buy car parts online??

Options
I have a 1999 ford puma 1.7

I'm looking for a full exhaust system and clutch kit. Anyone advise the best places to buy online?

How much would I be looking to get them fitted once I'd bought them, or is it cheaper to let the garage do all the work?

Huge range of motor factors out there. Best off trying the big names like Partco, Eurocarparts, must be some Ford specific suppliers out there too. Also worth checking out the parts prices from Ford.
    Happy chappy
  • Just been told by OH we need everything for exhaust other then cat, so i'm surmising that means centre and rear.

Get a custom stainless steel exhaust made and it will never go again. You will be surprised at the price too! It will more than make up for itself if you're going to own the car another good few years. As you need both parts, now is a good time to get it done.

See here http://www.powerflowexhausts.net/dealerlocator.cfm Don't need to go for anything fancy.
  •:o Looks good, but I don't think my OH or I would have a clue what to ask for.

You could try calling up a few places that do stainless steel exhausts and asking for a quote. Some (maybe most) offer lifetime guarantees, but these are usually for as long as you own the car and not transferable to a new owner.

I guess you just want a standard set-up, cat-back to keep the emissions in check, with the same amount of sliencers as you currently have (probably 2), unless you want it noisier. Hopefully if you tell them you want nothing fancy, just something equivalent to the standard set-up of your car but stainless steel, they should hopefully be able to help and give a quote based on that. For comparison you might want to find out the cost of a standard cheapie exhaust to to see how many cheapie exhausts would make up the cost of the stainless. Other than that there may be somewhere that has pre-made stainless exhaust sections specifically made for your car to MFR's specs.

The car still has the full Ford original exhaust on it  would you believe. I would prefer stainless just cause I hate having to get things replaced/repaired.

  • Thanks goldspanners. By the looks of it, I'd have to fill in their parts request form, as there are no exhausts or clutch parts in their shop.

they have a category for all modern fords but if you dont see the parts you want then fill out one of thier forms and send it to them, they are usually pretty good at getting you what you want.
good luck and hope this helps.

you might find getting a few quotes from different tyre and exhaust places and playing them off one another with prices may be a bit cheaper though.
i got a full exhaust system which had to be specially made for a merc vito recently from national tyres and it was just over £100 fitted for the full system.(except down pipe)
