Travel insurance for grandparents
Hi all, hoping someone may be able to point us in the right direction.
My grandparents are both in their 80s and every year they really struggle to find travel insurance due to their ages, medications and existing medical conditions. It’s becoming very stressful for them and involves spending days on the phone going through endless questions.
Does anyone know of any specialist insurers or brokers who deal with older travellers with medical conditions?
We are happy to provide a full list of medications and conditions if needed for quotes/recommendations.
Any advice or personal experiences would be really appreciated. Thanks.

I sorted this for my parents last year. They are in their 80s with multiple conditions. The normal comparison sites were useless.
Look for specialist insurers that cover older travellers with medical conditions. They exist. They will ask for a full list of medications and conditions. That is normal.
The phone call is unavoidable. But the specialists have trained staff who know how to handle older customers. The first year is the worst. Renewals are usually faster.
It will not be cheap. At that age with conditions, it just is not. But the right specialist will actually cover them. That is the main thing.

any recommendations for companies to try?

I struggled to get any insurer to provide a quote. The only ones that would was AllClear or Insure&Go, who are the same insurer apparently, but with different names. AllClear say they cover all ages and all medical conditions, but that comes at a cost, much higher than standard policies.

SAGA, good levels of cover too.

It depends on the conditions. Parent is 87 and has just been insured with staysure with no exclusions. She is comparatively healthy for her age though- high blood pressure, and a malignant melanoma which she is having treatment for.
It still came at a cost though, but if you’re paying a couple of thousand for a holiday per person then the cost of insurance is part of that. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
