Travel insurance medical cover
Renewing husbands medical declaration today through Co-op Bank account. They said ok to cover but a huge increase in cost! Read through the statement sent by email and right at the end is a list of " linked conditons"which it states he will not be covered for. The list just about excludes us from travelling, top of the list is heart attack. I find this really shocking as it was not mentioned during the phone call and if they are not covering him why has the price gone up? Has anyone else had experience of this

All insurance policies (medical or otherwise) come with conditions/riders/exclusions/excesses but you should be made aware of what these are before you have to agree to the contract and pay the premium.
Could it be that this list of "linked conditions" was too long to be listed, and agreed to, in a phone conversation?
Have you paid the premium?

No not paid it yet and no, the list was not to long to be included previously. Also I would not agree to it by phone.

Normally linked conditions are dealt with hand in hand with the declared conditions so for example if you have high blood pressure and either they arent willing to cover it or you say not to cover it to avoid the additional premium then heart attacks would most likely be excluded as high bp is one of the key causes.
So did you agree to pay all the APs for the conditions? Obviously in doubt go back to them and check.

So your complaint is that you have obtained a quotation for travel insurance from (via) Co-op Bank and they don't provide the coverage you need.
Discussion of the price is irrelevant if the product is unsuitable.
Get quotations from other suppliers of travel insurance, MSE have an article with links
but others are available.
Remember to downgrade your packaged Co-op account if the insurance product is no longer of use to you.

We used to have an annual policy (Aviva??) through a packaged bank account. But as soon as my OH started to have various health concerns they wouldn't even insure his luggage let alone any of his known conditions. As a result we switched to a specialist company that will accept heart disease, diabetes and whatever else we need to mention.
We went with Staysure and find their customer service very helpful. Of course the premiums were higher (jumped from about £120 to £400? in year one) but there are ways to ensure you don't pay over the odds too much. Get a basic policy without world wide cover or cruises (assuming not already booked) and then add those part way through the year if required.
There are other providers that can be found by googling "travel insurance for seniors". You don't state your ages but obviously the older one is the creakier one gets.

My point is that previously for ALL conditions cover was given. We paid the packaged bank account fee and the preexisting medical fee. There was no mention of any so-called linked conditions.

I'm not an underwriter but it may simply be that your husband has passed an age threshold (all other things being unchanged) where additional premium is required because of an increase in risk.
Of course medical insurance coverage is also subject to inflation and this may also be a factor.
Don't think you should get too bothered because things are not as they were, there are plenty of other suppliers to ask for quotations.
The packaged bank account products can offer great value to 'normals', add a bit of age or pre-existing condition and they become less so.

I was in a similar position earlier this year but not through a packaged bank account.
We had insurance with Staysure for a number of years and then this year the premium rocketed for no apparent reason. All the medical issues were the same except being a year older obviously.
I checked out the suggestions on here and went with LV who were good value and offered cruise cover as standard.
