So i signed up for 24 month contract Vodafone fibre in Nov 2024 ending Nov 2026 …. i was then sent a wifi booster in Nov 2025

I have just signed up for local fibre company Toob who agreed to pay my existing contact with Vodafone until end on 2026 - it was installed yesterday

Toob are asking for evidence that my contract runs until Nov 2026 BUT it appears that Vodafone contract was extended by a year in until nov 2027 when the wifi booster was sent :( I was not made aware of this although they say they sent an email which i cannot find

So i will now be running 2 contracts for the whole of 2027 & having to pay an extra £480 !!!

Vodafone say they cannot do anything - any advise please???

Does this mean that you now have two FTTP connections to your premises, two ONT boxes, routers etc?

Was the wi-fi booster sent at your request? There's nothing I can see in Vodafone's usual Terms that says supply of a booster will reset/renew a contract, a booster is simply a chargeable/free (depending on your plan) monthly addition to your existing plan.

You'll have to get Vodafone to disclose under what terms/agreement they have renewed your contract. Don't think it will necessarily have anything to do with the booster, although it does seem rather coincidental. They may well have sent you an email (or not) but that must have been triggered by some other event.

The contents of that email/the deal you did on the phone are crucial.

Vodafone will say that the deal offered/agreed to was "free booster if you renew your contract".

You (presumably) are saying they just offered a free booster and that's what you agreed to?

Have to ask, why would they make an unsolicited offer of a free thing?

TBH , unless you have some sort of whole home WiFi guarantee ( I’m not sure if VF even offer this like some ISP’s BT and Sky do ) and you had complained about poor WiFi and that’s why they sent out a WiFi booster ( because of that guarantee ) , but assuming you don’t have that , then VF sending out a WiFi booster for no apparent was clearly an inducement to renew or show some extra commitment , why else would they supply it mid contact ? , so even if you can’t locate the email stating that , it’s almost certainly the WiFi booster came with an implied’ cost’ and that was extending your minimum term.

TBH it’s an expensive lesson to learn, but you should have checked with VF when the minimum term expires before committing to Toob , BTW was the Toob a door to door sales using the contribution towards ETC as a selling point to get you to make a quick decision ? depending on how much time has elapsed since you ordered , you may still be able to cancel in the cooling off period but TBH unless they installed only a day or two later , that’s unlikely to offer you the opportunity to back out if the Toob deal .

FWIW the Vodafone website and app are both relatively open about telling you when your contract ends.

Are they both using the CityFibre infrastructure or is Vodafone using the Openreach network? If you used the OTS to switch surely that would have terminated the VF contract albeit with ETCs?

OP has had a second FTTP install, so both services running in parallel.

Toob has its own infrastructure but also uses CityFibre.

Just phoned Toob - they saying i have to 7th June to cancel my contract (14 days after signing up) but they are offering some extra incentives to continue with them (they will pay extra months towards Vodafone) - so am giving it a few days to think about it

Surprised Toob don't ask anything back for installation though ?! They said no additional charges to cancel & nothing to pay

How does that buyout cash work? Do they pay it to Vodafone direct or is paid to you/given to you as billing credit?

it’s usually a bill credit , so the customer settles with VF , and effectively gets Toob for ‘free’ until the bill credit is used up .

As far as not wanting compensation for the unused installation (if the OP cancels ) it’s still money in the bank for Toob , even if not now , should the OP want Toob in the future, the network is already in place ,and it’s just a case of switching it on (if they didn’t want this circumstance then they should have waited 14 days after the order to install) plus no doubt Toob call it an successful installation so their ‘numbers’ to their backers etc look better for when they invariably get taken over by someone else .
